Accessible PDF:

Our Accessible PDF, services ensure that the documents are accessible as per the accessibility standards & guidelines Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504, Section 508 and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

Our expertise lies in making your content usable by individuals with disabilities, guaranteeing that your message is accessible to everyone. Here's how we achieve this:

Accessible Excel:

Microsoft Excel is a handy tool when it comes to storing and organizing large amount of data. If using properly and because of its in- built features, you are at an accessibility advantage when using Microsoft Excel.

Accessible PowerPoint:

Microsoft has built in accessibility support into Microsoft PowerPoint, but it is up to us as content creators to ensure that our PowerPoint Presentations are accessible. Microsoft PowerPoint’s are used to create different types of documents.

Accessible Word:

Microsoft Word is accessible to people with disabilities using screen readers and assistive technology. It does often not know about these features. Microsoft Word is probably the go to format for so many people to create documents.

Remediation of PDFs

Supplier will provide document remediation services to PDF/UA standards required by Section 1557 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

  • Analyze each document to identify accessibility requirements and remediate to meet PDF/UA standards. Remediation will include the following and any other steps necessary to meet PDF/UA standard. Documents that cannot be remediated to PDF/UA standards for any reason will be brought to the attention of Client prior to completion of work.
  • Turnaround time expected for each project will be provided at the time of project submission.
  • Review and correct the logical structure of the file, including verification of tabbing order.
  • Review and correct tables, including proper tagging and reading order, logically redesigning the tables if necessary without changing the physical view.
  • Review all images within a PDF to ensure proper descriptions are included in the remediated document. Supplier will communicate to Client of any images that need clarification or additional description before final remediation.

  • Appropriately mark heading, lists, references, footnotes, endnotes, bookmarks and tables of contents as needed.
  • Supplier will organize headings within a PDF in the prescribed logical order.
  • Supplier will sequence the document appropriately (Heading 1, Heading 2, and then Heading 3 sequentially).
  • Supplier will ensure checkboxes in editable forms should be editable
  • Supplier will link Document Table of Contents correctly with respective content in the document.
  • Supplier will add Client provided metadata which can be added after the remediation is complete.

  • Supplier will conduct any and all additional steps not referenced herein to ensure documents are remediated to PDF/UA standards.

Quality Assurance Checklist

Steps taken to check for accessibility:
  • Check if the Document has been scanned in
  • Check if the Document Title is set
  • Check if the Document Title is set to ‘Show’
  • Check if the Language is set
  • Check if the Tab Order is set
  • Spot check Role Mapping for correct mapping
  • Spot check Non-Distinct Repetitive Headers or Footers to artifact
  • Check Table of Contents structure and elements (OBJR) as well as alternative text
  • Check the Document for Heading Hierarchy structure
  • Check the Document for images and give alternative text to meaningful images and artifact items that are decorative
  • Spot check List and sub-list structure and elements
  • Spot check Footnotes structure and elements and given identifiers as well as placement
  • Check Table structure and elements as well as tab order
  • Spot check Table Headers are properly tagged
  • Spot check Table Header and Table Data cells are associated by either ColSpan and/or RowSpan or IDs
  • Spot Check Form structure and elements (OBJR) as well as tab order
  • Check Link structure and elements (OBJR) as well as alternative text for all links
  • Check Read Order
  • Check all content is tagged or artifact
  • Check the document for Bookmarks if over 20 pages
  • Check Document Structure throughout file so that all tags are structured in a valid manner
  • Check for Metadata UA file append
